“Pinky” Presented by The Rudy Rodriguez-Duret collection for the first time following an extensive two-year restoration. This rare U.S.-market car was originally delivered in Stuttgart, Germany, to a U.S. Air Force captain. The captain later brought the car to Arizona, where it began its life in the United States. In 1977, the car was purchased by a renowned 300SL mechanic and Gull Wing Group member lovingly nicknamed Pinky, who cherished and meticulously maintained the vehicle for nearly four decades until his passing. During his stewardship, the car became a celebrated fixture in the 300SL community, earning its endearing moniker. The restoration, performed by Coachwerks in Victoria, Canada, highlights the car’s authentic details and timeless elegance. Now finished in its stunning factory-correct Anthracite grey metallic DB172 over 1068 Leder Naturfarben interior, this striking color combination enhances the car’s classic design. This 300SL Roadster is displayed with original factory Black hardtop, period-correct luggage, a 300SL prototype ski luggage rack, original tools, and factory literature, making it one of the most complete and historically significant examples of its kind.
