1985 Porsche Rothman 962
The Rothman is considered the apex of Porsche’s long and distinguished history at Le Mans. Made specifically for the 1985 Le Mans season, this car carved a name for itself immediately, sitting on the pole for the 1986 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 5th in the 1988 Le Mans, and numerous assorted endurance race entries. Only three 962’s were produced and used by the Rothman Porsche Factory team during its tenure, before being passed down to the privateer team Joest Racing. During the Rothman 962’s racing tenure, it was driven by many legendary names within motorsports, such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Hans Stuck, Klaus Ludwig, Jochen Mass, and Vern Schuppan. In 2015, it was also driven by Valentino Rossi in England at the Goodwill Festival of Speed.
