The Plymouth Superbird was a modified production version of the Plymouth Road Runner only produced in 1970 to qualify for the cars use in the 1970 NASCAR championship. Made in the image of the classic Looney Tunes character the Road Runner, the car was equipped from the factory with a decal on both spoiler struts and the driver side door. To top off the branding to homage the road runner, the horn was made to create the distinctive signature “beep-beep” noise the character is recognized by. The Superbird came in two different configurations of a 7.0L Hemi V8 and 7.2L Commando V8 version, however the 7.0L Hemi is significantly rarer, with only 135 examples ever being made. Of only 1,935 Superbirds made, it is estimated around 1,000 still exist to this day.
